Our goal
for our Green Cube school-agers is to have a safe and enjoyable time in a club-type atmosphere
Children in this age group are exposed to a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and games
Activities include cognitive games and puzzles, sensory and creative activities, reading, math, science, music, indoor and outdoor play and special events. We strive to encourage each child to develop growth of independence, self-confidence, a sense of responsibility and respect for others and the environment.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL AGE GROUPS WILL BE USING NATURAL AND ‘LOOSE – PARTS’ MATERIALS TO LEARN CONCEPTS IN ALL AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT. (IE. STICKS, ROCKS, TARPS, SHELLS, WOOD, SAND,WATER,MUD, LEAVES,SEEDS, ACORNS, PINECONES, ETC.)
(LOOSE-PARTS MATERIALS ARE THINGS THAT CAN BE MOVED, CARRIED, REDESIGNED, LINED UP,TAKEN APART AND THEN PUT BACK TOGETHER IN MULTIPLE WAYS. LOOSE PARTS CAN BE USED ALONE OR IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER MATERIALS. OBJECTS AND MATERIALS ARE DESIGNED TO BE OPEN-ENDED; LEARNING FOCUSES ON THE PROCESS VS THE PRODUCT.)
Before and After School Classroom Layout
Our school age classroom’s layout is designed to build on and sustain relationships. With an emphasis on independent learning, the children will have many opportunities for choice and freedom within limits. Self-awareness and self-regulation continue to develop in designated, defined learning centers, which are flexible, adaptable and able to be modified accordingly.
